Some points that CIVIC has been campaigning for find a place in the draft by-laws for garbage, as per the report in The Hindu today. It says eco-friendly vehicles will be used for door-to-door collection which will ensure that waste is not exposed and in the open while being transported, or be visible to the public. Hopefully, this will mean that lidded bins and covered vehicles with flaps will be used. Another point that CIVIC had been advocating was to fix a day for door-to-door collection of 'bulky' waste, such as broken furniture, mattresses, commodes, etc., which has found a place in the by-laws.

However, the report says that there is no clear collection stream to ensure that different kinds of waste don't get mixed. So will we have waste being mixed by the collectors after it is given in segregated condition?
